Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Mississippi features more than just great golf options. Located 72 miles east of Jackson, the state capital, Dancing Rabbit is part of the Pearl River Resort, owned by the Choctaw Indians near Philadelphia, Miss. A luxury gaming resort, Pearl River Resort features the 7,128-yard Azaleas course, 7,076-yard Oaks course, Silver Star Hotel & Casino and Golden Moon Hotel & Casino.

Intimacy and Elegance

Dancing Rabbit is truly a unique golfing experience. Both courses were jointly designed by renowned course designer Tom Fazio and PGA great Jerry Pate. Not only can golfers experience two championship courses, the intimacy of the visit is punctuated by the option of staying right at the clubhouse. Eight elegant king suites are available on the second floor of the antebellum-type clubhouse. Featured amenities include a king-size bed, an over-sized tub with jets and a pastoral view of the immaculate grounds from your balcony. In addition, guests have a private cart to commute to the Silver Star Casino. According to Mark Powell, director of golf, “The casino is only two-tenths of a mile away, about a drive and a 5 iron!”

Pearl River Resort

Combined, the two hotel and casino properties at Pearl River Resort offer 4,500 slot machines, nearly 100 table games, 1,074 hotel rooms, 10 restaurants, European spa facilities, shopping and live entertainment. Remo’s restaurant at the Golden Moon offers authentic Italian dining, while Eclipse features fine wines and steak. Likewise, the exquisite Miko restaurant at the Silver Star also features steak and an extensive wine list. The Spa at Silver Star will help visitors relax after a round of golf, or a round at the slot machines. Complete details of the resort can be found at Pearl River Resort.

One of the Best Courses You Can Play

This year, Golfweek named Dancing Rabbit to its list of “America’s Best Courses You Can Play.” Both courses live up to this billing, as they unfold on more than 700 spectacular acres dedicated solely to the game and tradition of golf. Opened in 1997, the Azaleas course, with its omnipresent namesake, is reminiscent of Augusta National, home of the Masters. Though you won’t find an Amen Corner per se, golfers will be treated to several stunning holes, like the 9th and 16th.

The Oaks course, which opened in 1999, features Tifway II Bermuda tees and Meyer Zoysia fairways. The dogleg left, 7th hole is a great example of the challenges you can expect to find on the Oaks. This par 4, 446-yard hole is the number two handicap on the course. It features a tree-lined fairway on the right, and a long narrow lake on the left. The green width is a mere 20 yards, with a bunker on the left side. Another challenge is the par 3, 11th hole, which is the longest par 3 on the Oaks at 220 yards. You shoot over a lake, then contend with bunkers and a small creek on the left side of the green.

World Class

Tom Fazio said of Dancing Rabbit: “We believe the golf course facilities at Dancing Rabbit are truly world-class. The course has a distinctive personality and character. It meanders around and through a densely forested area with numerous streams and water features. The total golf experience at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is something we are very proud of.”
