Birthday boy Uihlein wins US Amateur golf
Peter Uihlein made the most of his 21st birthday by defeating David Chung four and two on Sunday to capture the 110th US Amateur Championship.
Uihlein won the event by holding off a back-nine charge from Chung at the Chambers Bay golf course.
Uihlein was leading by two following the first 18 holes in the morning, then held on during the afternoon 18 holes.
Uihlein took the lead at the second hole of their 36-hole final.
He then built a four-up lead after 27 holes, but Chung clawed back, making a four-foot birdie putt at the 28th hole and then sinking a 25-footer for birdie at No. 11.
